Gary loves to talk about the war…and write about it too

Gary was born within the walls of the oldest hospital in England – St Bartholomew’s, London – in itself simmering with a strong sense of bygone times…this must surely have been an omen…
From a young age history forged a fascination and a passion, which ultimately led to a career in military history. Having established a battlefield touring business in 2006 Gary has since conducted thousands of people across the battlefields of north-western Europe. Coupled with a thoroughly inquisitive nature to uncover the truth, the detail and the personalities present on the battlefields, Gary has on more than one occasion, been called a true Battlefield Detective.
Writing evolved both as an extension and a natural progression. Gary now spends more time writing than touring and has embarked on a series of publications covering the French Resistance and clandestine warfare during WWII. He is fascinated by the occupation of the country and the complex impact on civilian life. This interest was ignited during the twelve years Gary spent as a business partner and great friend of Jacques Fourcade, son of the famous French Resistance leader Marie-Madeleine Fourcade. Gary promised Jacques he would keep the spirit of resistance and the stories alive.
Research work for this project is well under way and with an inexhaustible appetite for his work, his hobby and his passion, good things are sure to follow.
Gary is a Trustee of the important Combined Military Services Museum in Maldon, Essex where a vast collection of militaria is on display from 800 BC to the current day.
Gary Weight lives in Lincolnshire (Bomber County), England.
